The IWDG began an historic acoustic monitoring survey in UNESCO designated Dublin Bay Biosphere as 2016 came to a close. It is part of the Alexandra Basin Redevelopment Project marine mammal mitigation plan.
TALES FROM A MARINE SANCTUARY
The Irish Whale and Dolphin Group (IWDG) embarked on an awareness project in 2016 to celebrate 25 years of the Irish Whale & Dolphin Sanctuary. The 'IWDG Whale & Dolphin Sanctuary Cruise' started in Fenit, Co Kerry and took their flagship boat Celtic Mist clockwise around the coastline of Ireland. I scrambled aboard in Greencastle, Co Donegal (go visit) and spent a day with volounteers surveying for purpoise who live in the area.
